When people jump on a video call with me for the first time, my office tends to pique their interest, so I thought I’d share a picture of my desk following a recent reshuffle of things.
Not everyone is going to love this environment but knowing that makes me love it more.
There’s quite a bit happening on the walls which I’m sure will give some people a headache just seeing this in their feed, but there’s more out of shot, like:
🛖 It’s called The Sett. My wife bought a plaque for the outside and everything.
🦡 The Sett contains at least 10 badgers. Their eyes follow me around the room, I swear.
🐕 The Sett includes a dog bed but rarely a dog. I need to make calls, he likes barking. These are not compatible.
🌡️ It’s an icebox in the winter and a sauna in the summer. Air con = winning.
⚽ My kids regularly use it as target practice when they play football in the back garden. This incurs my displeasure.
From The Sett, I’ve had the pleasure of working with senior leaders in global organisations over the past couple of years, and I’m pretty sure my work has been all the better for having crafted this unique environment around me.
