My background

I'm a senior comms and social media consultant specialising in helping leaders, subject matter experts, and founders turn their experience and expertise into influence.

​​​

I've worked in comms since 2001, starting out in B2B Tech PR before moving in-house to spend 10+ years working in consumer social at Vodafone. ​​From being at the heart of its early adoption - and the perils that came with it - through leading a board-approved strategic transformation of social media in the business, I've picked up a great deal of experience along the way.

My approach

What I do today plays to both my professional strengths and my desire to help people get the most out of their comms and social media efforts. 

​​​

I understand that some people find platforms like LinkedIn overwhelming, confusing and/or even soul-destroying to spend more time on. But - and I say this as someone who has experienced this directly and through client work - I also know how valuable it can be when you get it right.

 

That's why I bring a real dose of pragmatism and practicality to my approach, to help my clients find their voice and put it into action.

Technical nouse

I've spent my entire career working as a translator of sorts, taking often complex, technical ideas from the experts, and converting them into language that draws your audience in rather than leaving them lost in a sea of jargon and acronyms. 

​

I've got extensive experience in doing this for clients in B2B technology and services, and across a range of vertical and horizontal industries too. And I also spent around a decade decoding telecoms speak into consumer social and PR activities at Vodafone UK. ​

​

These days, my focus is on helping individuals rather than the brand itself. And in 25 years of doing this, I've only ever met one person who was able to intimidate me with their techno babble (I'm only telling paying clients any more about that, though!)

How and where I work

I work from The Sett (you can see its most recent live state in numerous videos and pictures via my LinkedIn profile), based in the corner of my garden in Newbury, UK, delivering remote support to my clients based in the UK, US, across Europe, and in Asia. I'm also happy to travel for in-person meetings with locally based clients.
